As VOA’s Islamabad bureau chief, Sean is responsible for organizing multimedia coverage out of both Pakistan and Afghanistan.  He started working for VOA in 2006 as the Charles Kuralt Fellow in International Broadcasting based in Washington, D.C.

During his time at VOA, Sean has reported from the United Nations and Capitol Hill.  He also has covered late-breaking news, including the Lehman Brothers’ bankruptcy announcement and Fidel Castro’s resignation as Cuba’s president.

Sean graduated with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication, as well as a BA in Spanish.

In 2006, the prestigious William Randolph Hearst Foundation recognized Sean as one of the top collegiate television reporters in the United States.  National Public Radio also chose him for its “Next Generation Radio” project with member station WUNC FM.

Sean has received multiple national and regional awards for his television and radio reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists, Broadcast Education Association, and College Broadcasters, Inc.

When he’s not working, Sean enjoys traveling, playing the guitar, cooking and spending time with his family and friends.
